Sessions, whether in the office or over Skype, last for one hour. They usually occur twice a month and the client will have tasks such as reading related information, questionnaires and keeping records about symptoms, to complete between the meetings. The purpose of this ‘homework’ is to help the therapist and client fully understand the nature of the problem and to assist the client in practicing new skills that will help to create positive and balanced changes.
During the first appointment, an assessment will occur. These details will be discussed for the purpose of reviewing the current situation and the history of the problems. In addition, the goals the client would like to reach through this process will be discussed and overview of the treatment options will be provided.
