BA, MSc, Chartered Counselling Psychologist, C.Couns,Psychol.,Ps.S.I.
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). In 1990 I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. It was during a holiday to Ireland that I decided to remain here and in 1993, I was accepted onto the Masters in Counselling program in Trinity College, Dublin. After being awarded my post graduate degree 1995, I opened my practise.
My professional career and work has been quite varied. It has extended from the management of my private practice in Dublin to providing training for various professional groups ranging from teachers, acupuncturists, social workers, dentists, nurses and helpline volunteers. Also, I am the co-founder of OCD Ireland and from 2002 – 2014 I volunteered as the Clinical Manager and Media Spokesperson for the organisation. In February 2015 I was the lead professional in the first ever Irish documentary, produced by Wildfire Films, about OCD.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to lecture at Trinity College and UCD as well as other educational institutions. In 2001, I began lecturing across a range of disciplines in the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), which is now the Technological University of Dublin. In addition to being a lecturer in TU Dublin, I developed and manage, ESTeEM, which is an award winning mentoring program.
